At the first of the year I sent out an e-mail to those who served with Chris, Veterans, and friends seeking your input on a project that we as a family felt being lead to and were kicking around.  After long discussions and meetings with attorneys and your input, on Friday, May 25, 2007, the IRS has recognized the SSG Christopher W. Swanson Support Charity for Veterans and their Families INC. as a Taxed exempt 501 (c) 3 non- profit organization. The state of Maryland followed up with their approval on May

29, 2007.

To our military family (and we do mean family) still at Walter Reed, Germany, back here in the states, and to those taking care of business in Iraq and Afghanistan we are here for you and yours, if you need anything we are just a phone call away. We love you and are so proud of you and we will never be able to thank you for all you have done for our family and our Country. We all have experienced tragedy and adversity in our life, it’s what we do with these adversities that defines us and makes us who we are. Have no doubt, that this time in our life has been the most difficult time for us. There is not a day that goes by that we don’t think of the sacrifices that our son and others have made. We are able to go on only because of God’s grace and promise that if we believe we will be together again one day.

A Soldier's Soldier

Christopher Swanson was serving his third tour in Iraq when he was killed by a sniper during an ambush in Ramadi, Iraq on Saturday, July 22, 2006.  As an Army Staff Sergeant, Chris was determined to steadfastly lead his troops and he wanted to make sure they returned home safely.  Chris enlisted in the Army right after graduating from Southern High School in 1999, re-enlisted several times, and received two purple hearts before sacrificing his life for his country and our freedom.

He was a true soldier's soldier.
